Frank Wilhelm has been our beloved director since the inception of the chorale in 1997. Frank grew up in Exeter, Rhode Island.  He has studied with Adele Babcock Teich.  Frank is the past president of the Greater New Bedford Choral Society.  He has sung under the direction Helen Whipple, Max Hobart, Glen Guittari, Allen Lannom, Gerald P. Dyck, Paul Madore, Dr. F. John Adams, and Robert Page.  Frank is currently music director for St. Jacques Church in Taunton Massachusetts.

About our Accompanist

Erik Thompson is a graduate of UMass-Dartmouth, from the College of Visual and Performing Arts.  He is also an accompanist in the New Bedford Public schools as well as an organist at Holy Name Church in Fall River Massachusetts.

Our History

South Coast Community Chorale (SCCC) is a nonprofit choral group that was founded in 1997 by a group of seven friends. Their goal was to create a group versatile enough to perform musical works from classical to Broadway to contemporary.

Since then, we have presented two concerts annually, each May and December. We devote part of each program to traditional and well-known music, but also provide exposure to less familiar works.

Concert audiences as well as members tell us that they enjoy our dual focus.

We’ve performed classical music such as Rutter's Requiem, Faure’s Requiem, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Pergolesi’s Magnificat, and contemporary works such as:

Patriotic songs, Spirituals, Disney songs including medleys from Broadway shows such as Wicked, Show Boat, The Lion King, Les Misérables, Oklahoma, West Side Story and Phantom of the Opera.
